Tell me a bit about yourself, Vicki. What do you do?
I’m a Microcurrent Acupressure Therapist and a (soon-to-be certified) Holistic Hormones, Fertility & Weight Loss Coach
What caused your soul searching to find your dream career?
My dream career didn’t end up being my dream. After 29 years of a corporate career I have switched into completely unrelated fields.
Since about the age of 12, I thought my dream was to become a corporate secretary. My bestie’s mum was a secretary and I thought she was the coolest, smartest person around. I wanted to be just like her. I was good at it and for the majority of places I worked in, I enjoyed the work.
I finished that career working for a High Net Worth Perth based entrepreneur for 10.5 years. That position enabled me to work from home with flexibility as I navigated IVF and then motherhood.
I have two children conceived via egg donation. Zoe is 8 and Levi is 4. After the birth of Zoe I started to lead a more holistic and natural lifestyle. I thought I was kind of already doing that after my early menopause diagnosis at 32, turning to natural remedies for support, but I wasn’t educated fully and was still using products and eating a certain way that was not enhancing my health.
In 2012, while Zoe was still a baby, I felt called to help other mums create a healthier home for their families. I did this alongside my full-time job. Two network marketing companies have been the vehicle to help detox many people’s lives.
I focus solely on one of those companies’ products and teachings now, Young Living. I’m very thankful for the opportunity to continue to serve in this way.
In early 2019 I travelled to Canada and studied to become a Microcurrent Technician focusing on learning a non-surgical facelift technique that incorporates non-needle acupuncture, microcurrent and meridian energy balancing.
I absolutely love helping women in this way however during the pandemic I was unable to operate and the universe was giving me gentle nudges that I still wasn’t entirely on the career path I was destined to travel and should another wave come through requiring lockdown then having another way to support my family financially was important to work towards.
So in August I started studying to become a certified hormones, fertility and weight loss coach. A topic close to my heart given my own health journey and fertility struggles.
I’ll continue to help women look and feel younger, help families lead a low tox life and I’ll also be help those experiencing hormones and fertility issues.
My message to women is that you can have multiple career changes as you evolve and grow. It is also wise to have multiple income streams.
So many women feel that they have to do either or, they can only do one thing at a time etc. That can cause feelings of indecision and to stay in jobs that aren’t truly in alignment with their higher selves. Being out of alignment causes depression and other physical issues to manifest.
What do you like most about your work?
I love the variety of helping in a number of ways.
Can you share one tip to help others figure out their dream career?
What do people come to you for advice for – that is generally how you are meant to be serving people.
If you could tell your past self one thing in regard to your career change, what would it be?
Expect the unexpected!
